2010 RG with ABS makes clanking noise when first applied, seems to go away once warmed up. It seems to be amplified by the fender, just one clank per brake pull, almost like tire throwing a rock.
Wondering if anyone else has noticed this, goes in for the brake switch recall tomorrow so I"ll have them give it a look. I know they have had right front bearing problems so I need a good once over.

Yeah I've noticed it after backing it out of my driveway and I apply the brakes, figured its the calipers realigning themselves after being applied in reverse. I don't see or feel anything else indicating I've got an abnormality with the front brakes.
It is probably a small rock in the calipers. It happens to me all the time, the rock gets tossed out and that is the end of it. Nothing to worry about. Drive over some 1/8" to 1/4" size rocks, maybe new black top if you dare, and listen, it will happen several times until you get out of the rocks.
I have a 2011 sg and can make that sound simply by rolling backwards then accelerating forward in 1st and tapping brakes, definately not a rock but sounds just like a rock hitting inside fender. was hoping to find answer here before having it serviced. Noise started after 1000 mile service
This is normal and I am thinking brake caliper piston does not stay pushed up against the back of the brake pad and when you first apply the brake after its been sitting for awhile you will get a "click" its pretty loud at times depending on how fast I am going. I am thinking about taking the pads off and apply some RTV black gasket sealant on the back of the pad to cushion the space between the caliper and the pad and also stick the pad to the piston.
my 09 street glide does this to I have aftermarket rotors on the frt.. & thay are not the floating type.. my stock rotors did it to... its not a lose calliper..I havent found what does this yet.... but if you roll back then apply frt break pressure it does it.. the bike does not have to be running......
