Yeah I've noticed it after backing it out of my driveway and I apply the brakes, figured its the calipers realigning themselves after being applied in reverse. I don't see or feel anything else indicating I've got an abnormality with the front brakes.
My '09 Street Glide does the same thing. I back out of the garage every morning and clank, then I move it forward and clank. Until i back it up again, no clank.
My 08 Street Glide has done it since it was brand new. Even after a brake pad change. Tech says it's the pads shifting a bit in the calipers. Freaked me out for a while. Now, I don't even notice it.
My '09 SG has been doing this for a while. Took it to the dealership,
they've taken the front brakes apart twice and haven't been able to find
anything *off*. Only one mechanic has been able to reproduce the noise
but I seem to be able to do it 9 out of 10 times. Go figure!
Mine does it too. I brought it to the dealer and as I brought it in they heard it "click". Checked out the front brakes and didn't find anything wrong. Sounds like its a common issue but hopefully nothing to worry about.

My driveway has a 25% slope, so I let the bike roll down with the engine off. I get one 'clonk' after a few yards going downhill without the engine as I apply the front brake, and that's it for the day. Then I maneuver back and forth in silence till I park. You guys seem to ride into your garage with the engine on; try to kill the engine before you stop and you may hear the 'clonk'.
Absolutely nothing to worry about. It is the pads shifting in the calipers.
If you've stopped, held the front brake and any sort of bike movement rearward has occured (it doesn't take very much, just enough to relieve the forward pressure on the pads) the next time you apply the brakes going forward, it will "clunk"!
Same thing happens if you do it starting with forward roll braking. It will "clunk" the next time you roll backwards and apply brake.
same same bud always first thing they take up postion make the clank noise and then nuthing till next morning same again only thing i can think with mine are a slightly warped rotor pushes the pads out a tad and when first apply brake they take up so to speak !
