I really like the power of the 103, but I've got to say, I really miss my 96".
My 09 96" was quiet as a mouse. No ticking, no knocking, nothing. My 11 103" ticks and rattles its way down the highway. Really not enjoyable to ride. Then when I stop, I've gotta listen to the neutral rattle (loud as hell). All in all I'd give anything to get my 09 96" back.

The only diference between the 96 and the 103 is the jugs and pistons change them out no more probs.
My 103 is the best running motor I have had new from Harley. I have had several, and this thing is strongest, but then I like torque and have done the 255's, exhaust, AC, race tuner, etc which got it up to nearly SE 110 power levels. No cat means cooler temps... as well.

2010 limited not in sig pic, the sig pic is my new to me sporty. As to the OP I have not had a problem. Jackpot headers ceramic coated , thundermax, Klocks slipons, SE Air, and 555 cams, she is a way different machine than the stock when I got her with 3 miles on it. I did have an issue with the 6th gear light when I first bought her and the milage was crazy low, brought her back and bang taken care of. After that I broke her in stock put 3,000 on her and made the mods. I skulled her out with Willie g and now the next thing is paint. after that I am done until 2013, if HD makes a killer CVO for the 13 year I might trade in, but I am almost done paying her off and I might just keep the bike forever, I truly love the limited. It is a sweet ride.
I bought a new 2011 Road Glide Ultra which comes with the 103. I only have 3400 miles on it but no problems and it seems to really be a good match for the touring bike, at least for me it is. I wish we had the 103 in the wifes Street Glide but the 96 is still very capable.
