Default 2012 Limited Upgrades

Just ordered a set of 4" Jackpots. Thinking of upgrading to the 255 cam at the dealer since if I have it done within 60 days it's covered under warranty. Just wondering if I should let the dealer remap it when they do the cam or get a tuner and do it myself? Not sure if I do a tuner if it's covered under the warranty either.

That is what I did with SEPST,they told me it will be covered. I have had some issues in the past, with other bikes, and they have always kept their word to me.

I suppose you plan to upgrade the air cleaner to a high-flow model?

Read-up on tuners as well. The HD SERT is not user friendly but the HD guys will sure as hell try to sell you one. Lots more better tuners on the market at less cost. Hope your dealer is giving it to you strait on the warranty and all. "Buy it from me and your covered" has backfired on several on this forum. Lots of turnover at HD dealerships these days, so beware of what you accept as fact from them. Good Luck.

For tuning I would plug the Dynojet Power Vision (Fuel Moto).
Jamie at FM makes excellent maps, and you won't find better customer service than FM.

Mounted my Power Vision on the bar
also have their AC and 2-1-2 header.

Just sayin....

Here are a couple of graphs with the SE 254e cams installed on a 2012 FLHTK 103 with Rush (ceramic coated inside & outside) true dual head pipes and the Rush mufflers with 2" baffles. Also installed is the Ness Big Sucker A/C kit and a TTS. The build and dyno tune was done by Doc's Performance Tuning.

I was looking at the FM Jackpot head pipe and the Rush true duals. The Rush TD's made more low end torque then the Jackpot pipe. So for this build I went with the Rush. And did not want to wait 6-8 weeks for a Jackpot pipe, and longer for the ceramic pipe.

I have never used the SE 255 but I can tell you the 254e has nice low end torque and great mid range torque. Cruising in 6th gear is where the stock 103 fell flat on it's face. With the 254e you will never be required to down shift at cruising speeds in 6th gear for more power.

I have found this to be a smooth, quiet running setup ideal for touring.

Just talked to the dealer and they need to do an EPA compliant download when they install the cam. If I do my own download I void the warranty. Love CA. Anyway, has anyone run new cams with the CA compliant download? They say it will run a bit lean.

The only way it will void the warranty is if a failure is directly related to the down load or MAP. Using the HD Compliant down load will leave a lot of Hp/Tq behind and you may get some popping etc. It will run better that it did before the cams but not as well as it should. Just adding the jackpots in effect voids the warranty since they are not HD and not Ca Legal pipes, but they would need to prove the mod is directly responsible for the failure.

Buy a tuner and do the flash it yourself. The Power Vision is so easy and it saves the stock MAP you could easily reflash it to the HD MAP in under 5 minutes everytime you take it into the dealer if you wanted to. Fuel Moto provides some very good MAPs for the PV. Or if your not comfortable take it to another Dealer and get it tuned, Bartels in MDR , Van Nuys HD or Antelope Valley will dyno it for you.
