Sundowner seat- grab strap

The strap from my original seat is in the box with the seat. The strap from my Sundowner seat is in the same box with my old seat. My understanding was the strap was added for "passenger safety" (something to grab onto) when Harley stopped providing the original chrome passenger grab rails somewhere around 2007. Structurally, all of the OE touring seats were the same from 1999 thru 2007. The original chrome passenger grab rails added nothing in terms of securing the seat. I've never heard of any seat falling off prior to adding the "security strap" in 2007.

I took the new strap and placed it on the seat where I wanted it then riveted the ends on the bottom side in the thick plastic. now the strap is part of the seat and comes off when I remove it. the old strap is left connected to the bracket and tucked under the seat.
