I would like to add an intercom to a 2006 Road Glide. I've looked through the HD catalogue and I've asked the parts guy at the dealer where I bought the bike. I looked around in HDF for a couple of hours. No luck so far.
Has anybody done this ? I thought it would/should be easy until I started digging into the details. If it was a 2004 or earlier, it seems I could do it.
I would like to keep and use the PTT button on the handlebars, and I figured it should be easy to do. I have basically a stock RG with a TourPak, and I don't like to turn around to say something to my wife ( I ride in California, which makes it even more dangerous ).
i used a J&M system on my '06 Dyna. it is a small box, about the size of a pack of cigarettes that can be placed under the seat. has a remote volume. bought the high quality headsets from J&M and it work great.
Here is the link to the Harley Intercom kit for the Advanced Audio System on your '06 RG. It can also be found at page 513 of the current HD P&A catalog:
I've had all that crap on a Goldwing before. Too much hassle fumbling with the wires, ensuring the speakers are set correctly in the helmets ... not worth it to me. My wife and spent too much time saying ... Huh? JMHO but it was money wasted to me.

I don't know, the system on my ultra works too good, plug in and go, ............wife can talk for hours...........

Precisely ... next thing you know, they're telling you how to drive "RIDE" ........
That's why the rider, not the passenger has control of the intercom functions. My wife understands that if I'm busy with traffic or she's just getting mouthy, I've always got the mute and off controls.
While I undestand its not a HD product, Star-Com seems to have a good product that allows intercom, two-way radio connections, MP3 music player connections, cellphone connections, to the intercom.
The Harley Intercom Kit says it requires the Tour Pack.
Has anyone tried to install this setup without the Tour Pack? If so, what did it involve?
Well, the passenger music/intercom volume switches and PTT switch are located on the rear speakers. I think the cord hookup comes out of the speaker assembly as well, underneath the tour pack. My guess is that you not only need the tour pack, but the rear speaker system as well.
