The rocker boxes would be pulled doing the pushrods thru the top. I assume you are reusing your stock pushrods on this as well seems foolish to use adjustable that far in. I'm not sure if your willing to wrench or not, but if so you could do that entire job for less than a grand, used 255s are everywhere on ebay and cheap and you could get your pipes tuner and intake from fuel moto, for like ~750 shipped and get a map from them and be done with it. But if you are not inclined to do the work, it seems like thats a solid price for the install as going thru the rockers adds an hour or two to the job.

So $95 turned into $2,300...... Funny how that has a tendency to happen. My "black fork" upgrade this winter has quickly turned into a 10G project (I figured while I was at it to upgrade the bags, fenders, wheels, apes, stereo, amp, lights.....).

Good luck, I'm sure you will get your return back in smiles per mile!

cannot think of any application for steel wool near a bike.

ANY polish is an abrasive--- easy to cause more damage than a fix.

chrome:aluminum is hard to chrome ( compared to steel) and heavier platings are more likely to come off than thin, so you can't blame the thickness of the plating

power washers cause lots of bike damage too- pushing water and soap into bearings and electrics

Steel wool works great when you stuff it in your mufflers to keep the mice out during the winter. Just don't forget to remove the steel wool in the spring.

Tells ya right on a pack of steel wool, not to use on Harley Davidson motorcycles.

I agree. The job could be done for a lot less. Not sure how your winter goes, in Chicago, we have quite a bit of time to tear our bikes down for winter mods. Might be a good time for a learning experience. Find someone local who likes to wrench. Make a friend, learn a few things and most importantly.....Drink a few beers and enjoy the other half of the hobby....Wrenching.

I'm not crazy about HD cams either. So many aftermarket choices to choose from.

Oh, if you are pulling the lower rocker boxes. Might as well buy some .030 head gaskets and bump up the compression a little. Its only a matter of 4 bolts per head to swap em out once the lower boxes are off.

As for all the post in regards to doing it myself and save money, you are right I could do that. As for all the post in regards to there is aftermarket market parts for less that will make more power, you are right as well. Fact is this little build will provide more than what I will use. Also if I install the parts myself (cams) it will put my warranty in question in certain situations. The dealer has assured me that if they sell it to me and install it on my bike they will not kill my warranty for any reason. He said we do not do our customers that way. This is a new bike and I want my warranty intact (for what it may be worth). For me the choice is leave it stock or let the dealer take care of it. I chose the dealer because that is what I wanted.

Man that's true....when I gutted the cat on my brand new bike, half way thru it I was thinking...**** I hope this isn't one of those knuckle head senarios where I've just cost myself a header for whatever it's going to take to replace it. The Mrs is going to give me **** for this one....Thankfully it wasnt but it was dicey for awhile there

Thanks for the heads up. I use WD 40 and fine steel wool on the exhaust and would of done the same on the rocker boxes if I had something on them. Did you use the steel wool with a lube of some sort?

Thanks for your post, seems no one here wanted to believe that I was using fine steel wool on my exhaust with no issues what so ever. No I didn't use anything as a lube, if I had it may have been ok. I'll certainly be very cautious from now on.
