I have had a pair since 2003 and have not used a thermostat. I have worn them more hours then I can remember as I wore them for 40 hours a week during the cold months and have ridden in 17* temps. I finally wore them out and replaced them with a set of Gerbing G3's (gerbing makes the hd ones) and I can not believe how much nicer the G3's feel.

I set it halfway and then turn it up or down slightly depending on the temp. The gloves do get warm really quick so I can't imagine using the switch.

You are correct about the HD stuff being made by Gerbing - I have verified this personally with Gerbing and the Dealership. The warranty is the same regardless of which branded one you buy. However it is cheaper to buy the HD branded controller rather than the Gerbing branding one. The HD one is cheaper and comes with the pouch and works with both the Gerbing and the HD stuff.

I have two additional questions. I have a pigtail for my Battery Tender already hooked up to the battery. Will the power switch work with it, or do I have to hook up the connecting harness that comes with the gloves to the battery? Also, if I opt for the thermostat, do you still need the power switch hooked up or does the thermostat eliminate the need for it?

The battery tender pigtail will not work and is not recommended to be adapted. The thermostat will eliminate the power switch necessity as the thermostat turns off/on and allows a variable degree of power to be added for warmth.

I've seen adapters for sale that plug into the SAE plug but Gerbing recommends their heated gear be on it's own line directly to the battery. With the gloves you will get a bunch of different sized fuses (the battery connection is fused) and a manual that's as thick as a book! Fuses should be changed out as you add more heated gear. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the quality. As TickTock said, the controller eliminates the need for the rocker switch.

Two other things about the gloves: they're very warm even when not plugged in. I only need the power boost when it's very cold and I'm at hwy speeds. Secondly (my only negative about them) I wish the gloves had a pocket in the gauntlet to pack the wiring away when not in use. If you're not plugging them in, you have about 7" of wire to stuff into the cuff each time you put them on. Minor beef.

I don't think my G3s do. I will have to check when I ride home tonight.

Yeah. I think the older HD ones did too, not sure. The Gerbing G3s though have been discontinued - they now have the T5s with their MicroWire technology (can't feel the wires in the gloves) as do the new HD ones. I don't know if Gerbing T5s have a pocket in the gauntlet or not. Their online description doesn't say.

You can still purchase G3s on the Gerbings site. They also are microwire. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago.

Love my Gerbings. Check out this site before you buy. They have good discounts on heated gear. http://www.heatedclothingoutlet.com/index.shtml
