Default H-D Heated Gloves

Anyone have these? It appears from the description that all the necessary wiring is included, but I'm wondering if I should opt for the $60 thermostat rather than just using the supplied on/off switch. What is your opinion on the quality and usefulness?

I have them and they work great. I don't have the thermostat, but I would say to get it. They get very warm and I have to keep turning them on and off.

I'm with Shakey. They get really hot even on a 20deg day you'll have to turn them off. I'm thinkin about wiring in a rheostat myself and see if that works.

I have them, and they work great. However, I didn't like them stand alone. They do include all necessary wiring. I didn't care for having to run wires up both jacket sleeves. The following winter, I added the jacket liner, and dual temp controller. I love that setup. The gloves plug into the sleeves of the jacket liner, and then I have one button to control the jacket, and one to control the gloves.

What they said. While the gloves will usually require a higher temp controller setting than the jacket liner or vest, they still get too warm to have on high except on the coldest days.

Get the thermostat. You'll get tired of turning it on and off quickly.

I just went on a trip with the heated jacket and the thermostat is a necessity. If I were to do it all over again I would opt for the dual thermostat so that I could control two different items in the future. It isn't that much more to go that route and have future options.

I bought these gloves about a month ago. They include all the wiring you need to use them along with an on/off rocker switch. The wire snaking up the back and down the arms is a bit of a pain. I think I'll take the liner (unheated) out of my jacket and fasten the Y-cable to it to keep it in place. I also bought the dual controller ($100) because I intend to get the heated liner when funds permit. As others have said, with the rocker switch you will be continually turning the heat on and off. These gloves heat up FAST and get way to hot if left on. IMHO a controller is a must. If you know you won't be adding a jacket liner, get the single but if you think you might add other electric gear, get a dual controller.

I have the gerbings liner and gloves with the dual temp controller. My understanding is the gerbings makes the hd gear. I think the warranty is better with gerbings (lifetime). Not sure but I think it's also less expensive but it doesn't say HD on if that matters to you. The controller is very nice. I set it halfway and then turn it up or down slightly depending on the temp. The gloves do get warm really quick so I can't imagine using the switch.
