I've never purchased a new HD until now and I understand I get a HOG membership for 1 year. How do I get my membership number? I can't register on the website without it. Thanks.

If you get impatient the HOG toll free contact number can look up your member info after dealer gets purchase info in to them. Took me about 6 weeks to get mine last winter and I wanted to go ahead and join chapter to get their dealer discounts.
your membership comes with basic road assistance, which is pretty handy.
make sure that you are not paying for duplicate coverage on your insurance policy--- even H-D insurance will be happy to sell you duplicate coverages for roadside.
the $20 upgrade is more than worth it if you plan on touring.
I had very good experience with the service and have since upgraded to cover my cars and trucks--- deleting the AAA I used to carry & saving a bit in the process
I am not sure about now, but 20 years ago after paying for about 3 years membership, it was only about $80 to convert that to lifetime.
If you have HD insurance be sure and tell your insurance company you are a member. My discount paid for the membership and left a little for me. You should get the credit card too. It pays rewards in Harley cash. You can read up on it on the web.

I've made that pay for itself

The towing is not good with the basic HOG membership. You should add the Road America for another 20.00. http://www.road-america.com/ca/hd/ho...mpany_code=520
I actually had to use it last year and I never had to put any money out of pocket any time. Just signed the paper when the bike was delivered at the dealership.
