I bought the ARC amp and 6-1/2" speakers 2 years ago and have yet to have a problem from the components. The problem I had was as someone stated was the grounding.
I ended up calling wayne (FireCap51) at home and he instructed me to wire it directly to the battery and all my problems went away.
How does the ARC amp compare to the ELF or anyothers out there? I have a new SE Ultra and am thinking about upgradeing my stereo to an amp and bigger speakers and maybe some lower speakers for more sorround sound.
I do not feel that the 4 ohms of the RF amp greatly limited my options, but I also opted not to get Biketronics, J&M, or Hogtunes........ IMO "made for Harley" speakers are way overpriced. Not saying they are not quality, but they do not justify their $300 price tags.
You're right that the made-for-Harley speakers tend to have odd impedances, and some if not most are overpriced. The Biketronics/Hertz speakers were the exception on price, but had a 3Ω output. As it turned out that was perfect for me, as with the Hogpods at 6Ω the combo made a final output of 2Ω in parallel, and maximized the power of the Elf amp (125w/ch.). At 4Ω RMS power is only 75w/ch.
