I just bought a new Street Glide and want to make it sound better. Can I put Thunderheader Slip-ons with the cat, without any additional changes? I plan to do the stage 1 at some point but not right away. Just want better exhaust sound but don't want to blue the mufflers. Will the computer adjust to this change? Thanks in advance...
I'd suggest spending money once and doing it right.
thunderheaders will cost a few hundred bucks.
removing the cat will cost under a hundred ( there is a tutorial here with photos search for it)
with the cat in place the thunderheaders may make your bike marginally louder and deeper sounding
but the bottleneck to sound, performance and flow IS the cat
many riders report good results with the cat removed and the stock mufflers
there, just saved $500
tale your time on these changes, think them through and save money.
another inexpensive mod is the Ness Big Sucker hi flow air cleaner, check ebay seller: easternpc - I got the chrome one for $115 shipped
and for tuning I use nightrider.com XIEDS plug inline with the o2 sensors about $125.
if your were to get the thunderheaders now, then later remove the cat you may find that having one of the louder bikes is not gonna work for you in the long run
