BIG CHOLLA, great checklist, I don't think ALL the brand new 07's would pass your list. The only thing I disagree with is your statement : [ IF the owner would take you on a ride ] I personally would never buy a motorcycle that I could not take on a test drive by myself. If you are a little uncomfortable about it, then take a buddy along who has done a lot of riding, and have him test drive it. If the owner won't let you test drive it. Don't buy it. There are a lot of used Bikes for sale, this is a BUYERS market. JMO. THE DOG.
Here is another option. If you do not know anything about bikes and have no one to help you, maybe the seller would agree to have the bike inspected at a dealer.Of course this would be on your dime.
As stated in previous posts by some, I would never let someone test-ride a bike for sale, even if it screwed up the sale. Why? Theft, damage, liability, etc. Pay me for the bike, take it for 24 hours along with the title, unsigned. If you don't want it, bring the bike and the title back, with no damage and I'll refund your money. If you want to keep it, I'll sign the title over to you. Get mad, stomp around, walk off? I don't care. I don't want my insurance rates subject to a stranger that I don't know. I've seen too many lawyers in action.
Welcome to the forum. Lot's of great advice and fun on here.
You won't go wrong with the '06. Like mentioned above, be sure and check the maintenance records. Two things: make sure the ignition lock recall was performed and make sure it has the 25 degree injectors. I have 14,000 miles on mine, the only problem I've had with mine was cured by the new injectors.
Welcome to the site spider626. As you can see, this forum is full of extraordinarily helpful bikers; and the advice or suggestions you got from your first post is proof of that. Take it all in consideration and stay active in this forum; it'll do you right everytime when it comes to everything biker and rides. Good luck.
