not sure how hot the cats get on HDs.... but I have seen some on autos get red glowing hot.......now mind you there were other issues... so in a worst case scenario I guess HD is just being carefull...I dont have a cat or a pipe routed under my bike.

The rear brake light switch installed on these vehicles may be exposed to temp that can degrade its performance under certain riding conditions.This condition may effect brake lamp function and or cause a brake fluid leak at the brake light switch effecting rear brake performance,possibly leading to a crash and potential injury or death......... yep thats what it says I just got mine today and on recalls you have to take it to the dealer to have it fixed free.... still scares me
