I just bought my SG about 5 month ago and after 8000 on the meter, I sent my 2010 SG for service, to my horror they discovered a broken ring gear tooth. (see the attached pictures).
I have see some banged up ones from people getting confused on the start switch. These teeth are induction hardened. Does the face of the brake look like the same? Your's probably had a crack in it or either accidental starter engagement. I would replace it with OEM.
Sure they make good stuff. Just noticed your location. Do you have a Harley Dealer there? That is one fancy looking place...What's a hamburger and coke cost over there?

Harley doesn't sell ring gears for your bike. They tell you to replace the whole clutch basket with the ring gear attached. List for about $530. But you can remove the broken ring gear and replace it with one made by Evolution. They make great clutch parts. I believe it's their part 1010-1241. It comes with instructions on how to install it. Cost about $125-$150. I've done a few of them and it's easy. Note that the gears are press fitted on. So I cut off the old one with a Dremel. Heated up the new one and slipped it on.
