The bigger Derby Cover is what you all are thinking, on the Primary Transfer case, not the smaller Timing Cover on the right side.

The only way oil would leak out the right side is if you took the whole outer cam/crank cover plate off.

Good point. I assumed just as well he meant the whole cam cover, not just the timer cover.

If your crankcase is full of oil, you have bigger problems than just swapping a cam cover.

Easy enough job. Little oil comes out. I replaced the gasket as well.

He said he is replacing the "chrome cam cover", so I would assume it's the entire cam chest cover. In that event, just leave the bike on the jiffy stand. A little oil will come out but not much. Make the change and then replenish the oil that came out with new. Done. And dude, use a new gasket.
