Is your KlockWerks 8.5" too high and the 6" to low?
I found that it is very easy to lower the 8.5 by an inch or so and still leave room for the dash mounted GPS to fit under the curve.
I took the three screws out and pushed the shield down to the level that I wanted it. Marked where the new holes should be, then removed the shield and made new holes with a dremel tool. Put the shield back on with a 1" drop. Now I look well over it and still have more protection than the 6". Took about 15 min.
Didn't care for their product as far as windshields are concerned..
That's why I went with the classic from LRS.
The KW's look like they melted in the sun..No offence..
9' LRS Classic perfect for me, 5'10" Sundowner seat.

The only LRS I like is the Stealth. Guess I like that melted look, although I see it more as streamlined. Plus I like the way that the shape directs the wind. Seems to make the frontend more stable. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I seem to feel a difference.
I would not like the LRS Stealth if it really has that big ugly writing on the front of it like I see in the pictures on the web page. I did like the price though, compared to the KlockWerks.
Good tip! I am pretty sure I want the KW Flare for my 12 SG. Have added the Mustang Solo saddle and rider backrest. At 5'8 with a 30' inseam I'm just not positive on which one. I'm thinking the 6.5 would allow me to look over and the 8.5 would be too tall. Guess if the 6.5 is too tall I could use the OP's mod.
Nobody locally carries KW...several say they can order it....would really like to get it right the first time. Any thoughts?
I am 5'10" and the 8.5" was too high with a stock Limited seat. I was looking half through and half over it. The 1 " that I took it down is just about right. I had a 6" on my '05 Classic with a Corbin seat, and it was just right with that seat, which is lower than than the seat on the Limited. I had the 6" on the Limited for a day and it just let too much air in.
The 6" is now on the wife's (5'7") stock Ultra TriGlide and it is just right for her.
Keep in mind that if you get the 6" you will not be able to install the Zumo 660 with the dash mount. With the 6", I doubt that you will be able to lower it very much without the curve hitting the top of the inner fairing.
