I made my first purchase from Surdykes a few weeks ago. The total order was $145.00 including $13.00 shipping. I was very happy with the $35.00 I saved and not so happy with the time they said it would take to get the order (same as blockzilla). The parts were delivered on the 6th day so I calmed down a little with that and will order from them again. I will spend the $35.00 on other HD parts and consider the time frame I need them in my decision of where to purchase them from. . If you have sales tax in your area you have to count that in your cost calculation for buying local and usually is about half of the shipping cost. One of my local dealers adds on a BS shipping fee of at least $5.00 if they don't have it in stock but you get it in 2 days. My big spends are done and I have gone back and calculated the savings I could have had on everything through online dealers and is quite substantial for a little bit of a wait.

I didnt order from Surdykes to get any discounted price. I ordered from them because they said they hard the part in stock ...period... I tried to buy the part at full retail price when I walked in to 3 local dealers , none of which had the part in needed ... I wouldnt have cared to pay $20.00 more from Surdykes , cause I needed the dang part... which they lied about having just to get my money .... so buyer beware... if i was looking for a discount and was told it would be a few days ...fine...then I can decide to wait or look somewhere else ..... just tell me that dont bald face lie to me ....just lettin the word out .. take it for what you want...but I'll tell EVERYONE I know about it....

I doubt it will take 14 days to get the part. I also doubt that your dealer could have gotten it any quicker. Next time order from Zanottis; they have standing orders from the MoCo and, if they don't have the part in stock, it usually doesn't take more than 7 days to get the parts. If in stock, 3-5 days max. They do not drop ship from the MoCo, the parts come to them and they ship to you; they keep an inventory online of all parts they have in stock but always good to double check.

when you called, did you talk to 'internet sales' or the parts department? if you talked to the parts dept. they may very well have had it in stock. but internet sales and parts are 2 separate entities and don't usually interact with each other.

so i could see this situation happening where you called, talked to parts, 'yes, we have it in stock', then go online and order it and end up with it being 'backordered'.......

i don't know that this is how it happened, but i could see it.....

I've placed several orders with Surdyke and understand that one of the reasons they can give me 20% off is because they dont have the overhead of maintaining stock for internet sales. If its something I need or want in a hurry I buy it locally and end up paying MSRP. That said, Surdyke has pretty much always shipped earlier than the time frame in the initial order confirmation, so the wait hasn't been quite as long as they initially stated.

As other posters have stated, if you called and spoke with their regular parts department then ordered it online I can understand the confusion. Its unfortunate you had a bad experience with them...they have saved me quite a bit of money.

bought my first bike from surdykes....was the last time i delt with them.....they screwed up every thing they could....screwed up the paperwork.....scratched my bike...argued with me about not doing it....tryed telling me they give me my take-off parts when they didn't....had to send my bike back after they did service work on it cause they didn't tighten neck back down.......i think i've had the best luck out of gateway hd.....the wrenches there seem to have it together.....and if they tell me its gonna take 2 days...it generally talkes 2 days.....not like this other dealership i've been dealing with.....i hate to mention their name since i just bought my bike through them......but the service dept there is worse than Surdykes....

I`ve been very happy with zanottis and i`ve bought quite a bit,i did just order a fender for my streetglide which aint here yet anyway. They told me upfront there`s a twenty day lead time from the factory so it could be a month, i cant ask for more than that.most everything else has been at my door in 5 days

Generally, what's "in stock" is not for Internet sales. It's the same for all dealers who sells both online and in-store.
On-hand inventory is for walk-in customers who pay MSRP. I completely understand this. If I want to pay 20% less, I accept to wait a little bit.
This being said, my local dealer not only forces me to wait because he doesn't carry much in inventory, but he expects me to pay full price + sales tax. Yeah right!
By the way, honest online merchants shouldn't charge your CC unless the order is shipped. I'm just sayin'
