I didn't mean to offend anyone that felt left out that's why I tried to catergorize it by fairing type; fixed, non-fixed and none at all. Hope this helps.

I have both a 10 Ultra and a 12 RG. I prefer the ride and handling of the RG by a wide margin.

My son has a 12 Ultra and when he rode my RG. He came back and the first thing he said was "I got the wrong bike."

The ride was about a ten mile per side square. There were exceptionally strong winds from the south. So the ride was into the wind with the wind and cross winds.

King..but I have a QD King tour pack, QD sissy bar and rack, and aftermarket QD batwing fairing which go on when I want them. But unless traveling cross country, I go pretty naked for a touring bike and like it that way. Yesterday, at 33 F I even took the windshield off (but I did have my electric jacket liner and gloves plugged in and Desert Dog lowers to keep my feet warm. Looked hard at the Ultras, but I just like the convertible nature of the King. I use the fairing only in really crappy weather, like tomorrow. But with the national cycle hand guards, I don't really get better rain protection. Everyone told me that I'd put the tour pack on and leave it on until I sold the bike. Not true, I just like having the hard saddlebags and running lean after that unless gone for a week or more. Guess I always wanted a Road King because that is what fits me.

Guess I am like a kid, still playing with transformers.

When I bought my Road King, I wasn't a fan of the fairing. Now they have grown on me and I want tunes!!! I am hoping to get a removable fairing soon. Then I will have the best of both worlds...although everyone says when you get a fairing, you will never remove it. Probably true. I love music.
