Have a '09 Ultra with 50K.... running with a PC5, stock headers, aftermarket slip ons.
Throttle is a bit touchy at 1st and 2nd gear.... in some cases.. in nuetral if i hold the throttle up a bit.. the rpm gauge will hold for a sec at a set RPM then drop then go back.. and again and again when you hold it just right.
Sometimes this happens when in 1st and 2nd gear on the road.
Additionally, my battery is not holding a charge and needs to be charged every few days.
My Volts show 14.8 when running.
I plan on replacing my battery but wanted to know what other issues it could be.
I would put in the new battery and see if it still does it,,,sometimes when the on board computer doesn't get the proper voltage strange things start to happen,,,
I just changed my battery after I started seeing some strange things with the tach at start-up, and then started getting a code u1040 which relates to not getting the proper voltage in the instruments...........anyway I replaced the battery and cleared codes and so far those janky thangs have not come back.
a bad battery over stresses the charging system- and can damage the regulator or stator- which all of a sudden you are at $400 plus the battery you knew you needed...
I assume you have 50k on battery since many 09 would not need a battery. Charging good at 14.8 volts. My guess and it's a guess but I have seen same problem is the battery connections are not good. Bet you take battery out and charge a good 2 days on good maintenance type charge to de-sulfate it if it is and then have it checked at autozone on a load testing machine your battery and hunt problem will go away. However if it says battery is bad replace it and not necessarily at autozone but with a good gel type. Do not even think about a battery they requires pouring in acid, vent hoses or is not totally sealed. Especially if your system is like a softail with the fuse box and wiring all around battery. Sears was posted the other day on here as best deal, Wal-mart next.

Were it me, prior to throwing money at it I would take out the battery and bring it into a dealer. They will keep it overnight and charge it, then hook it up to the Midtronics tester and test the battery. It will tell if it is shot or not.
