Overpriced and of lesser functionality, in my opinion. I found a better (IMHO) security system for less money with Aritronix. I've used the ThunderPager (which was superseded with a new system) for 6 years. The ThunderPager has waterproof, matchbox-sized components that can be individually replaced when time/exposure/heat cause failure (usually in the motion sensor). I've only had to replace that sensor once, and received a free 6-tone siren to upgrade the system. GREAT customer service, photos for install on YOUR bike, no fobs to fool with and I have my car/garage door/FLH on a single keychain selector. No service issues, no fob problems, a pager from the factory, DIY so you know you can always get it right, and less money to boot.
dealer told me security system was included.is this normal or a sales pitch. now the seron and pager were extra(did not get).
so the fob would have just let the bike start period if not (upgrade?) with a security system? and if i disturbed the bike the lights would have not blinked..currect.
Security system is a factory installed option. Siren and pager are upgrades from the dealer. The system can also be retrofit by the dealer. Standard security system flashes blinkers and disables ignition system if bike is disturbed, triggers siren and pager if installed.
Oh, yeah, if it was factory installed on the bike you bought, yes its included and cost you about $325.00 over a bike with out the system.
I use mine all the time. We just had someone get busted with 12 stolen Harley's in their garage. He would watch by local resturants for people just shutting down the bike and leaving it. He would just turn the switch and off he went.
I have the stock security system and siren on my '03 Ultra. Just in case anyone has it and has not had this problem, on 2 occasions I could not get the alarm to disarm with the fob. The first time I couldn't get it to disarm manually (I think I keyed the numbers in wrong) so I changed the fob battery, cursed, cried, spat, prayed until finally, about 30 minutes later it just "worked". The second time, I disarmed it manually but was very pee'oed about it. I found out if you are close to an airport or some other place where they use high frequency radio transmission, it could interfere with the fob. If this hapens, just hold the fob as close to the seat and maybe even on the side where the unit is and it should work. I haven't had an issue since. Just in case no one knows and ends up like me, 250 miles from home with a bike that won't start and alarm screeching........
Just a reminder...... If you get the security system, MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE DEFAULT Manual override code.
You'd be amazed how many people leave it as the 'default'. Thats all I'm going to say about that.
In regards to the thread topic, I love the system. I would add the siren of course. The more attention you can get when someone is trying to mess with the bike the more likely they will be to give up.
I purchased my bike used. Does anyone know how I can change my manual code without the old one? Or does anyone know the default code so I can try that? I am unsure if the prior owner even changed it.

If you have the "owners manual".. all the info you need is in there. You have to use your key fob to find the code that was previously entered and then use that code to change it. when I got my bike it was all 1's (5 of them).
