The motor can shift enough to rub the right driver's floorboard. ( The rear mounts and passenger floorboards have nothing to do with it.)
Thanks! I'll check it out

Ok I see the gap you speak of. The rubber is not resting on the plate however the gap looks closer to 3/16 or slightly less. The gap appears to be equal on all sides of the rubber if that helps?? Engine alignment maybe the culprit?

Noserider - take a picture and post it. Maybe 3 - side view of MC, up close of where its rubbing the footboard, and of your motor mount. We might be able to give a little more info then.

The closest my heat shield comes to the inside of my rider floorboard is at least 3/16 of an inch. The pipe itself is a good 1/2 of an inch, or better away from the floorboard. Neither the shield, pipe, or the floorboard have removed since the bike was built. Hope ya find the problem.

I don't want to hijack here, but how many miles are on your '02? How did you check the cam chain tensioner without taking off the right side exhaust?

Bike is an 01 with 23k. I bought it a couple months ago. All I have done so far is change all the fluids, adjust the clutch and primary. I did remove the exhaust for a good cleaning and put it back together a few days ago. I'll take a few pics and post them up. Thanks guys.

My '02 has only 34K and I have never checked the cam chains. However, I am going to replace all of that OLD style "oem cam chain crapolla" in the ol gal this winter with the NEW style "oem cam chain crapolla".

Some pics. I'm considering loosening the exhaust and see if it is in a bind. No leaks detected.

Guys

Problem solved. The suspense was killing me so I took Mkguitar's advise and loosened the exhaust system and wiggled the headers and found a spot that gave me clearance with the header pipes fitting nicely in the gaskets. I hand tightened for now and will finish this evening. My clearance between the pipe and the floorboard mounting base is now 3/8" and no problem with the exhaust tin touching the floorboard. Those of you that mentioned the motor mount issue, did you see any problem with the gap distance between the rubber mount and the triangular plate? Just curious if my mount is showing signs of breaking down.

Thanks
