Default Need help from a 2001 FLHT owner member

Guys

My exhaust tin on the right side actually touches the inside chrome edge of my rider floorboard. I recently removed my exhaust and reinstalled but did not notice if it was like this before. The exhaust header itself is only 1/16" or less from touching the welded mount that the floorboard bolts to. I was wondering is someone could have a look at theirs and see if it looks the same. There is no adjustment I could do to the tin cover to keep it from touching so I'm stumped.

Thanks

I just looked at my '02 and it doesn't look like what you described.

Hmmm...thanks..I don't see how i could have the tins in the wrong places cause they fit together with each other nicely and follow the curves of the pipes.

probably a matter of loosening the clamps and shifting around-- you do have it right way up?

it's hard to turn it around but it can be done

Well I removed the floorboard...loosened the clamps but could not find a different spot to fix the issue. What do you mean by right way up? You mean swap end to end?

That is a symptom of a broken front motor mount.

Do you know how to check that?

Can you explain how a broken mount would effect this? The clearance issue is not on the passenger floorboard but on the rider floorboard.

I think he means if the motor mount is broke the motor could shift a little , resulting in what you have going on.

The front motor mount has a sleeve in the middle of the rubber bushing that holds up the 'triangular ' plate attached with 2 bolts to the front of the crankcase.
( Between the downtubes, under the regulator.)

The plate should ride on that sleeve about 3/8" above the rubber biscuit. If the plate now rests directly on the rubber, then the sleeve has separated from the bushing and the mount is now broken. The motor can shift enough to rub the right driver's floorboard. ( The rear mounts and passenger floorboards have nothing to do with it.)
