Well Howard's done it again. Great help in choosing which Ohlin to order. Then once the shocks were delivered there was Howard on the phone making sure I installed his babies the right way. Then after I got them on he called me at 8am the following day just to see how they felt to me on the bike.
Now, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I don't think Progressive or any other shock manufacturer is going to help you with each and every step. Not the way Howard does this.
I have a 2011 Electra Glide Ulta and I am definitely vertically challenged. Howard's suggestion on going with the #2-2 (12" inches long with a 2 1/2" stroke) has made a huge difference with how I feel my feet planted. That little bit of "sag" makes a big difference when you short like me. Plus I'm getting a much better ride that the HD Low Profile Shocks that I had before.
When you do take delivery of your shocks, DUE WHAT HOWARD SUGGESTS WHEN YOU PLACE THE ORDER. Pay attention to the installation instructions he sends to you in the email confirming your order. Then, when Howard tells you to call him BEFORE YOU INSTALL YOUR NEW SHOCKS, it's because he's done this a zillion times and there's little tricks and specific things he wants you to do as you're installing the shocks. This is not a Macho thing where we all think we don't need anyone telling us how to install something on OUR bikes. Howard's only concern is your satisfaction with the shocks he's sold to you.
Bottom line is I am totally satisfied with the Customer Service that I've received from the purchase of the Ohlin shocks and their performace to date. Although the shocks are going through their breakin period, I can already feel the difference in rear-wheel reaction over the bumps. And I know in the future if I have any problems or questions, I know that Howard is on the other end of the Customer Service Phone.
I'm 97.5% sure I'm going to buy my shocks from him, have heard nothing but good things, and had a very interesting talk with him a while back, I'm sure I'm going with the 3-1, just have a few other things I want to do first.
