I was thinking about speed control etc. One thing to keep in mind is more and more bikes have ABS brakes. I have ABS brakes. Anything that could potentially interfere with the speed control on the ABS. Can that be a liability issue?
Morning Jason! Haven't spoken since the Racetech work was done, but am interested in this latest fan project.
Not wanting to read thru 50 some pages, I have a question about going the other way with the oil cooler thing - could it be removed with the addition of the fans?

You can read a lot of my cooling philosophy and the info I provided on my website. I like to keep everything cool, so I prefer to run both with a fan on the oil cooler too. That said, I'v been too busy building to "fully" test the FCS to evaluate its impact on oil temp, I know it will, I just don't know to what extent. Those higher speed conditions when the fans aren't on, the oil temp will rise like normal, thats why I like the idea of both systems. Highway speed is when my oil gets the hottest, other than sitting still for extended periods of course. I know the thread has gotten exhaustively long but try going to the end and reading toward the front for a few pages, those are the posts from guys who are currently running the system as of very recently.
Unexpected results. I'm tooling around the country at around 55-60 in 90 deg. heat and pretty high humidity. Got the fan on the entire time and CHT never breaks above 250 for at least 45 minutes. Then, decide to jump on the freeway to test my new LRS 19" and get the scoot up to 77 mph and set the cruise. I'm going for about 10 miles and engine temp climbs all the way to 270 deg. I'm about 2 miles or so from my exit, so decide to flip the fans back on (turned them off thinking they wouldn't be effective on freeway). Immediately the temps started falling and within 2 miles, the temps were down to 264. I couldn't believe it. Nothing changed, not my speed, outside environment, just the fans. I'm going to do a more extensive freeway test in hopefully hot weather, but so far the lesson is, just leave the fans on all the time. Way to go, Jason. If I can keep engine temps around 260 on my way out to Sturgis this year, these fans will pay for themselves, as I won't have to run my "hot weather" map in my PV, just run my "MPG" map and save gas. I am stoked.
The dyno has a fan of its own, but I would think that testing OT would take some time to produce any meaningful conclusions since it fluctuates very slowly compared to ET (CHT). Unless something meaningful and valuable like a six-pack is on the line, I would just do your own tests and be happy with what you know to be true for your bike. And remember, you'll be paying for the gas.
I took 30 more sets of housings to paint today, probably be a week before I get them back. In the meantime I can work on harnesses and packaging hardware and connectors, should get another batch of fans about Tuesday so I can start prepping them. I had to build a new screen shear and this one works fantastic. I'm very pleased to see that you guys are having such favorable results. If you get a chance please email me a testemonial that I can post on the website. Thanks again all, stay cool.

Jason, If I might make a very small suggestion.....I would have liked to have had a few more inches of wiring on the pig tail. Other than that rather minor suggestion, I am one of your biggest fans....No Pun intended! Well, maybe a little! That fan works like a charm! You can post any of my comments that you feel will help any day. Thanks Rick
Jason,
After reading the positive results people are having with your cooling fan I'm really looking forward to see for myself what it does for engine temps. The more I read the more I think manual control is the best option. I'm #100 on the list and patiently waiting (not trying to rush you). Thanks for all the effort you've put into this project. I hope to see your fans on many Harleys in the future.

How much? I added 2" to the harnesses in the second batch, but I think you got one of the earlier ones. Anybody else think the harness is too short, I'm getting ready to start making them tomorrow while I'm waiting on fans to come in.
I have an overwhelming number of people that are not responding when notified that their system is ready for shipment. I have a conflict of interest here. I notify members via PM when I have systems ready based on their # position on the list, but I am getting pretty poor response with this method. Case in point I notified 8 members this Friday that I have systems ready to ship, only two replied so far, and only one paid. Previously I had a few sets sitting under the bench for several weeks because two cycles of notifications failed to yield a response. I want to give folks a reasonable opportunity to respond since they have waited so patiently for me, but this system is retarding distribution and I really need the money to put back into the project. I dont want these systems setting under my bench; I want them on your bike, so I'm going to try something different. This offer is open to folks in the 3rd batch #51-75, the next 6 members on the waiting list in the third batch to PM me that they are ready to make payment will get the discount link for payment and they will get the 6 sets I have ready to ship now, the rest of the third batch will be available in about 10 days, and there should be some extras to offer to the 4th batch members at that time. Im not scrapping the list, I will still return to the list order of precedence as I produce more systems. Hope I dont **** anyone off but I got to get rid of these things. Jason
Folks who ask to be on the list should be committing to making the purchase. And if they can't, they should at least let you know. Sorry it's not working smoothly. I thought the set-up was a good way to go; thanks for providing me notice when mine was ready!
