Default Stereo Project, Need Help

Ok, here's the deal. I'm sticking with the stock head unit, adding a Rockford amp. Haven't decided on which speakers I'm going with in the fairing yet, But that's not my issue. I'm on the fence on weather to buy Lowers and put speakers in the Lowers or go with Saddle Bag lids with speakers. Price wise I'll end up spending about the same. Yeah I know some of you will say not, by the time you buy the lids and have them pained by a "good" painter, your almost at the same price of buying lowers painted from a discount dealer. Unfortunetly I haven't run into anyone in my area that has either of these done and I don't want to wait until next year to get to Daytona to listen to the system at the different booths. Any of you guys heard both set up's or have had them? Also the misses say's she can't hear the music at highway speeds although I'm sure the amp and any speakers will help with that.

Thanks in advance...

I work with concert sound systems.

I would suggest that if all the sound is coming from the same direction ( the front) the speakers all work together.

If you have sound coming from in front and behind the speakers kinda have to work against each other, and you would need to fiddle with balance and maybe phasing to get it all right ( unless we dig up a quadrophonic 8 track*)

I've written in the past about how speaker sensitivity is the prime specification when designing a system- search for one of those if you want

* I put my CD's on 8 track for use in the Eldo

if your not upgrading the H/K radio, and do not have a fader function. I wouldn't recommend the bag speakers. it's a bitch to get them set so one or the other don't dround one out. I had some speakers in lowers. took them out for paint currently. I liked them alot.

I went with speakers in the lowers, currently running four JL Audio C5 6.5" coaxials off of an Arc Audio 125.4. It sounds great nice and loud and the sound is coming from where you want it to. The bag speakers will produce a little more bass, but you wont hear it when you are riding, it's behind you in the wind. Not to mention the wiring hassles and all that crap that comes with it. The SE lower speaker pods cost about $180 with grills and paint.

I purchased fairing factory lowers with speaker pods: $450 shipped. Email them directly. I have vivid black so it's perfect. I already have a 4 channel amp and wired right in. Best way to go with lowers.

IMHO go with speaker lids if you are worried about the passenger, and go with lowers if you want to hear it better.

With an amp and the lowers, your passenger should be able to hear just fine, I agree with most of the above post about the lids, unless you do both and also change out the head unit.
