went thru a similar problem . thought about trading my 09 rg with extras for a triumph
dealer offered me 12.5k even though they have a similar bike on their web site for 17k
ill just hang till summer and then sell
I hate to say it but too many people buy Harleys thinking they are buying something that will hold a better resale then others. This is not true. Also your extras are not worth a dime to anyone but yourself.
The main thing is that it is only worth what people are willing to pay. You can ask whatever you want for it but if people are not willing to pay it then you will be sitting on it until someone comes by and is willing to pay your price.
Personally, I would keep it, do some upgrades to it and ride the thing till the wheels fall off.
I'm afraid the others posting here are right...Your 5K in add ons will not bring you a penny more from a dealer. You are better off taking the goodies off and selling them returning your ride to stock, trading your bike or consigning it. Or...Selling your bike outright to a private buyer, which is imo is the best route. The market is flooded with bikes right now...It's a buyers market. The dealer assist program in my area is a good thing, but the dealers here charge anywhere from $600 to $1000 for this service (to the buyer).
I was told by an HD finance guy that the fee was not regulated by HD. I don't know if that's true or not.

This is why I save all of my stock items when adding aftermarket. Time consuming but I will put all applicable stock parts back on the bike and sell the aftermarket on forums/ebay. Worked out well for me on y last two bike sales. I also won't totally agree with the idea that your aftermarket stuff on the bike is worth squat to the buyer. Many items probably do appeal to them but they won't let on. Best guess is to be firm on your price and ee what happens. If no one buys, you pretty much have your answer. You will need some flex room though I'd think...
