Yup, extras don't add any value, just "perhaps" make it more appealing to a buyer and could assist in selling it faster (depends on the accessories though).
The guy says he can't use the bike, maybe he has physical limitations, who are you laughing at? At least he's not posting silly pics of himself in his garage pretending to ride.
I was told they could only sell it for approx. $16,300 because that is all the banks will finance for. After the 15% fee, I'm left with a whopping $13,200...really?
I don't know which version of "new math" they are teaching you in California schools, but if you can net $13,855 after commission, this time of year, I would jump on it.
Crappy economy.. less $$$$ for people to spend, means its a buyers market. Aftermarket parts don't add any value to a bike. Like someone said earlier in this thread.... if you can get 13.5 for your scoot... take it or hold on to it and hope for a better deal ... I doubt that will happen. I will ride my '07 SG til the thing falls apart lol And I won't ever buy another new bike.

looks to me this newbie just wanted to post a ad for his bike in the main forums to get attention, but I agree $13,855 for a 07 is more then the market will bare
Well, I guess you get every type of answer on an open forum... Anyhow, I think the correct term would be shock as to the current state of the market. No...I am not seeking attention or plugging for a sale. I just live in CA, not from here or educated here...no new math, just didn't have the exact #'s on hand. And BTW, my condition pretty much prevents me from riding anymore. Driving 4 wheels is a daily challenge at best. I held on to the bike for a while in hopes my condition would improve however, it has not and most likely will not. So I thought by coming on here and asking for some experienced wisdom would be the smart thing. And yes...after a bit of research of the area of similar bikes, it would seem approx. $14k to $15k tops is about it. Sad as it may be, that is reality. Thanks for all the serious replies.

Good luck on your sale. Don't get too discouraged. A low mileage well maintained bike with upgrades will sell faster than the higher mileage competition. If it is priced right, it will sell eventually. If I were in the market for a used bike, yours is exactly the type I would look for. Condolences on no longer being able to ride. It is the only thing that keeps me sane.
I am in the process of selling my 07 FLHTCU. Both of my local dealers offer either consignment or cash value. Well, the consignment avenue was a complete joke! They go by NADA retail value. There is NO accounting for extras, low mileage or extended warranty. I was told they could only sell it for approx. $16,300 because that is all the banks will finance for. After the 15% fee, I'm left with a whopping $13,200...really? The other dealers cash value was about the same. I looked into selling it privately, but was a little affraid of the risks. I look at Cycle Trader and E-Bay, and some desperate sellers are letting them go for as little as NADA trade-in value @ $11k-$12k. Most are priced on average from $14k-$18k. I fully understand that the economy sucks but to see resale values that bad for a $23k motorcycle in 2007. I have approx. $5k in extras, transferrable extended warranty and only 2,600 miles. I am not desperate to part with it, I just want somebody to be enjoying it being I cannot. I am willing to get the dealer safety check and even a CARFAX report for the potential buyer. What creeps me out is the test ride. I understand it is NOT customary, the safety check is the key to avoiding it I guess. Too many horror stories of people just taking off on their bikes. That is exactly what I want to avoid but I am not willing to just give it away at fire sale prices either. BTW, how successful are the sellers on this forum? I am seeking just a bit of wisdom to help me in the process.
First off the add ons really dont add any value to any bike, and in some cases it will reduce the value. A 2007 model has a lower reputation in some mechanical areas and most Harley riders know this, A 2007 model is pre updated frame etc. I would go on E Bay Motors and do a search for your model year and model and select buy it now option and price lowest to highest option. Select distance from your zipcode at the max. This will give you an idea of what the market is on your model. It is fall and money is tight for most people and the 2007 model year is not at the top of the list in resale. I would list it on Craigs list in your closest metro area and do it with a fair price, good quailty pics and list of what you have done to it and state, no test rides. I have sold my last 2 bikes this way, with no negative recourse on the no demo rides, if bike is under waranty and in good shape, it will sell without a joy ride to a serious buyer. Your bike in my area, all things considered may sell for $14K-$15K to a buyer that likes the model, color, low miles and ext waranty. All else is subjective and worth very little to most. Good thing you didnt spend $1000's more on engine mods like many do.
