Reckless Cycles Fairing
Has anyone purchased a fairing from Reckless cycles? I'm in the market and the decision is a tough one. You cant beat the price of the reckless cycle one. Any help please
If you want a show bike, try dead center, but if you want a reasonable fairing and weather protection, then the Reckless is just fine. I am on my first winter season with the Reckless and it is working out fine. The detail and finish are minimal. Windshield is cut plexi and the fairing has the window trim around the top where the inner and outer fairings meet. Mine is not painted, just black gelcoat. I waxed it up and it looks fine. Again, my bike is a rider (not a show bike) and I wanted the radio and weather protection from October through March.
It is a little tricky to pop on and off, by that I mean it will take you 10 minutes instead of 5 like the others. Plan to emery cloth the edges of the cut SS brackets and trim and sand the edges of the windshield. I did all this as I assembled it (added the brackets with come loose).
Over all I am very happy with my Reckless fairing. If you are into showing your bike or one upsmanship from other riders, then you probably want to look elsewhere.
I will add matching pinstripe tape to mine just to match the tank and bags. Most just ask me how much I paid and are surprised at the low cost. I ride pretty much alone during the winter so I don't really get many people who even notice that it is not stock unless they look from behind. Mine is all black inside, so not chrome glare. Radio works fine, but I use it more for traffic and weather than tunes.
I have some photos of my install if you are interested.

just boughht one for my father for christmas came in sooner than expected i pulled it out of box to inspect it and everything looked pretty good it hasnt been installed yet so cant comment on fit
I dont know the brand but I picked up an empty one off ebay for under $200. black gelcoat but plan to eventually paint it. Took some grinding to open up around the headlight and rework the brackets to have it sit exactly how I wanted it (I also had to clearance some fiberglass for my aftermarket bars) Made brackets to hold my fusion radio (waterproof) and a set of 6 1/2" speakers instead of the 6x9's they were designed for (the 6x9's wouldn't fit where I had to clearance for my bars) Super loud! I usually only use it on long highway trips and colder weather months.

I have a dragon fly, the quality is very good, I swap out the wind shields between a 6.5" klockweks and a 15" ultra, depending on the distance of the ride. It's twice the cost, you get what you pay for. No prep, sanding etc. it's right out of the box.
I would love photos of your install of this fairing. We ride 2010 Softail Deluxes and are in the market for an inexpensive "suitable looking" batwing fairing that is functional. I caught wind of Reckless cycles and really liked the prices. We also have Harley quick release windshields now, but want the protection of the fairing. Do you think the quick release hardware already mounted will fit this fairing? Please send me pics of your fairing and install. My email address is: bikerfxds@yahoo.com. Thanks, Mike
