I have a 2012 RKC. Eventually I would like to get an on-the-fly-type autotuner system that uses wideband O2 sensors. Unfortunately, the system I'm really interested (Presicion EMS) in isn't available yet - they're shooting for July 2012.
I know that to use their tuner I will have to buy 2009 headers with the larger O2 sensor bungs for the wideband sensors and also to eliminate the cats.
My question is, if I were to buy and install the headers early is there any way I can adapt the existing O2 sensors to fit and work in the 2009 headers and just run with the stock ECM until my tuner of choice becomes available?
Mostly I'm doing this to make the pipes louder and cooler until I can get some real tuning. I will keep the stock AC in place to avoid fueling/metering problems.
I understand that the O2 sensor location has changed since 2009, as has the O2 sensor bung itself, so I'm just asking if there was a way to run the 2009 headers on my otherwise stock 2012 bike until the tuner is available.
Ultimately, this is the setup I will end up with:
Vance and Hines dresser duals
stock mufflers
Precision EMS
some kind of higih flow AC...probably SE kit with a K&N filter.
