I'm glad your ok. It could have been a lot worse. I will never forget a about 5-6 years ago, I wasnt riding bikes yet, but I had a brand new Harley F-250. I was driving, and not paying attention, I came up on a motorcycle at a stand still. I was going about 30 mph. I dont know how it happened, but I slammed my brakes and never touched him. However, not a day goes by I dont think about it.
That sucks when will they start testing old people to see if they should be able to drive, half the old people on the road shouldnt be there and wont get there license taken away because of politics
Michigan State Police are actually conducting some research on this, I don't think the results are out yet. There is a concern due largely to the increase in rear end collisions to police cars, fire/ems vehicles, and road construction vehicles on the shoulders of roads that the LED technology in emergency lighting has caused this spike in collisions. The theory is that the lights are causing a halo effect meaning that your eyes see the bright lights and you can't look away and unconsciously steer towards where your eyes are looking.
It's called "people not paying F&*$(#* attention. They're too busy putting on make-up, trying to clean their spilled coffee out of their laps, bobbing their head to music that everyone can hear, and talking/texting on their damn cell phones.
What they should be testing is, do higher fines and more tickets reduce the number of collisions?

I don't have the stats to back it up, just some things I've noticed the last couple of years. But I'd be willing to bet that most collisions wind up being the fault of people under the age of 25.
DannyZ71 I think you are right! I remember it being a huge deal when my parents decided that it was ok that I got my license. It seems these days people are far too consumed by texting, updating their Facebook page and all the other meaningless stuff. They have zero idea how dangerous a multi-ton vehicle can be. My drivers education class (1987) went to a towing shop and got to see some pretty messed up cars, this helped bring a bit of reality to me at least.
43 days and the Limited returns!!! Better than new with the Monster Ovals, Stage 1 A/C, TTS Mastertune w/dyno, rider backrest, all LED lights, and a brightasslight tail light.. Could only take a short ride with the rain closing in.. but I am one happy rider!

Glad all is well with you and machine. Good choice on the tail light.
Ride safe, and be thankful.
Good news indeed.

If you haven't already done it, make sure you tell your insurance company you want a 'diminished value' payment. In Georgia, as with many states, this is something you are entitled to but it is not automatic. Essentially because the value of the bike is now lowered because of the wreck this payment is to put the difference in your pocket. Obviously if you're selling 'bike a' with a crash history vs 'bike b' that doesn't have that same history, you're gonna lose your butt. Make sure they pay it.....and yes, it can be paid out after completion and acceptance of the bike.
