I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to offer some advise on this problem with my mp3 player. I have the Road Tech riser mounted radio
installed on my 05 Road King. Just installed the Harey Davidson bar mounted MP3 player on the bike according to the directions. I've transferred music
from my cd's to a 512mb memory card in the mp3 format. The problem is while the engine is running, I'm getting a distorted sound the varies with
the engine rpm's heard back through the radio. When the engine is off, the quality of the sound is really good. Sounds like the mp3 player is picking up
some kind of sound from the engine, and it's being hear back through the radio. The radio plays great by it's self, and I only have the poor distorted
sound when using the mp3 player while riding. I even thought it might be something I'm doing wrong when transferring the music onto the memory
card and considered installing a inline noise suppressor filter on the power wire. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, they would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sounds like you have a ground loop problem. did you wire the mp3 up to the same power source as the radio? the radio may already have a filter in the line. You can go by almost any car audio place and pick up a filter. It will either wire in between the power line or if its a passive unit you just loop the power cord around it. Yours is a pretty common problem when audio stuff on a bike or car.
