I cut the stock on/off switch off and wired mine into the Acc switch for my Road King using the Acc connector under the seat which is controlled with the toggle on the Nacelle.

I assume you are talking about these?

You can wire them any way you wish. When I mounted a set on my old RK's engine guards, I ran the wires inside the guard tubes. This means that you have to cut-up the wiring harness to facilitate this. So you will need to be handy with wiring, have an understanding of how they work and where to get your voltage supply.

Most states required that these lights be disabled when you switch to high-beams. So you need to wire the relay coil to be energized only when the headlight is on low-beam.

The handlebar switch is important and you will want to use it. These are each 55 watt lights so most of the time you would want them OFF when starting your bike. Plus there are other instances where you would want them off like when riding in a group at night. These things are bright! So install the switch. I know the instructions call for removing the tank to run the wires, but that is not necessary either. Use care when mounting so the lights do not look into the eyes of on-coming cars. You will know if they are mounted wrong cause all of the cars that pass you will flash their brights. That is a sign that you need to angle them down a touch. Good luck with the install.

I wired a set into my old Evo with no difficulty, using an accessory switch. Simply cut off the handlebar switch and connect the wires to your own. You can get the extra parts you need from any auto parts store.

Another tip is to mark where you plan to mount them and drill a hole so they can be wired internally, much cleaner install.
