Fork baffle mounts to the back of the bottom fork tree...deflects air towards the engine & away from the tank....comes in black or chrome. I run a black one!
Thanks for all the replies guys...good info and pics. From what it seems I guess, for me , its either going to be looks, or effectiveness. Doesnt seem you can have both. Everybodys taste is different too. Add to that that I came from a 06 base model Heritage, and this is my first bagger doesnt help.
Now that I see some, I am leaning toward a SSC like a 12"....sounds like they are somewhat effective, and I for one like the flowing lines with the fairing. The clearview, although effective, looks straight up and down kinda.. Maybe a plain taller FastAir for a long run maybe...
Thanks again, now I can make a little more educated guess. But like everything else, it will probably be trial and error with 2 or 3 extras laying around when its done...lol
JR...I'd say the Bailey is much more than somewhat effective, but a 12" is a good choice. Why don't you order a 6-8-10 from Fast Aire, set you back $100, and you can have a pretty good idea of which height you need.
I get compliments all the time - the lines flow perfectly with the bike. The SSC is one of those rare items that gives you both form and function.
Doug
Which size is that Doug? It looks like a 12" maybe. I remember you saying that the 13" worked best for you. I'm selling my 9" but thinking about getting an 11", for an 8" type experience. Do you still find 13" to be the primo size...how do you feel about 11"ers?

Glider,
You've got a good eye. The SSC in my sig pic is a 12" opaque black. For me, the 12" is perfect with my stock seat. When I put on my Mustang touring seat (1" taller than my stocker), I put on a 13" SSC. I've also got an 11" SSC but rarely use it. It all depends on how tall you sit in the saddle. I'm 5'11" but I'm long waisted so I sit higher than other riders my height.
Why do you rarely use the 11" Doug? Do you find it provides better than standard say 8" Fast Aire protection?
The 11" doesn't give quite as much protection as the taller shields for my style of riding. I like long distance touring, and the more protection that I can get the better. Around town the 11" is fine - in fact no windshield is fine as far as that goes. But for 500 mile days I much prefer the 12" & 13" SSC's.
