Hello ... Looking for help with 23" front install
I want to retain the stock height if possible ..
Sonic69 - No to Tricky Trees ? I was going to call them and ask what the trail would be using their 9degree trees . When I calc'd it using their trees it was less than 2 inches ... but i didint know the offset and used -1.6 .
gogogadgetbiker - I will PM you with a email for some help ..
Sorta the reason i wanted to use HHI trees is cause if it doesnt handle as i expect .. I could always just get the neck kit and cut ...but the whole kit ( 40 degrees total) puts trail at @ 8 inches . seems like ALOT of extra trail . but i havent had the oppertunity to ride one yet ..
you should only lose @ 1.5 inches of trail (from stock of 6.69) which put the trail in the same number as most softails
KewlMetal Front End Harley Road King 12 Degree Rake Kit $1,049.95
12 Degree Tree, Road King/Street Glide/Road Glide. For use with 23" inch wheel & stock frame. No frame modifications required. Fork extensions included. Full suspension travel & stock ground height.
Follow the hints gogogadgetbiker, stupid-rope, and Sonic69 are providing. These are wise men and are a valuable source of information. You can get the Kewl Metal through Paul at Native Baggers. I just installed a 12 degree on a '11 FLHX this week.
If you are going to use the trike trees, a couple things to keep in mind. You have to alter the frame slightly by extending the slot for the front fork lock if you want to use it. It does not lock otherwise. I just used a wood lathe and made a shim to fit down into the neck through the trees that would fit a 1/2" drill centered and drilled it. Works great now. I'm going to end up doing the corvette shocks on the rear. I don't understand why they want you to extend the tubes with the Yaffe kit, yet recommend that you lower it by reducing your suspension travel. Sounds counter productive to me. I know I like mine the way it is, other than I'd like to have it lowered a little. I htink I'm going to lower the rear end by an inch or two and also use the corvette shock setup. Also, if you are doing the work, I had one area where I may have screwed up a bit but its nothing that can't be worked out. When I packed my tree bearings, I used a heavy moly grease. Either because of that or because of the different rake and bigger tire, setting the fallaway didn't work as the manual states. I need to tighten mine up just a little. It is overly sensitive when riding and every little variation of pressure on either side of the handlebar makes it swerve too easily. When my fairing skirt comes in and I have to take the fairing back off, I'll reset that.

GaryH - Your bike is comming out awesome and is driving me into a frenzy to start mine .. as far as the kits wanting you to extend the forks i thought it was because they stretch the frame up an inch and out an inch (or 2" for the 26"kit)
Yardsaledave - On you profile pic whos fender/filler panel is that with the lights ? I like that alot . I have talked to Paul ...my issue is that I want to rake just enough to fit the wheel ..as i dont like the stretched look the baggers get at around 40degrees
And having not posted enough is prolly my problem thanx
