Default Gerbing Controller

Two questions:
I have the H-D heated jacket liner, gloves and thermostat controller made by Gerbing.
When I ride, I usually keep the controller between my chaps and jeans on my left thigh. I have had it for 10 years without issue. Last time I used the controller, it got very hot, but was working. I am wondering if it has seen better days. What do you think?
Also, I was thinking of replacing it anyway, but it has the old style plug. (the one like on the Battery Tender) Does anyone know if Gerbing makes and adapter plug so I can use my gloves and liner (with the old style plug) with the new style controller? The electric has a life time warranty and to replace the gloves and liner are about $370.00.
Thanks in advance.

Yes there is an adapter. Or you can cut the plug off the old one and with a little solder and heat-shrink make one. But I think they are like $10 to buy. Might just check the contacts first. A loose fitting plug will pull more current and get hot. But 10 years sounds like good life. I am on year two so still working fine. Good stuff.

That's a good link. Gerbings no longer makes the adaptor as they say that the SAE will not carry the amperage that the coax plug carries.
I use the adaptor (an old one) and it has started to melt the insulation near the plug.
Gerbings does however sell the adaptor in the other direction, coax to SAE so you can use the coax with your heated gear and still connect the battery tender.
