Well got gear my S&S 510g gear driven cams in. New bearings and new S&S adjustable push rods. Screaming Eagle Heavy Air Breather is installed. True Duals with Screaming Eagle slip on exhaust. Dyno run next to tune it in. Should I run a higher octane gas or just stay with the gas station hi test? Man this thing is fast ,well faster then it was by far. Took on test run with general mapping put in and did 0 to 80 in 1/8 mile I think. Need to really check this out with car for milage. Next year during winter going to port the heads and new valve springs. Can anyone think of what else to do? Don't know how far to go and still be able to tour with as well. Help looking for answers!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd run pump gas for the dyno tune. If you're after top end power, you might want to re-think the true duals. I did a 95"/26N build on my '04 RK so I'd have enough power to pass cars two lane highways. If I want to go faster, I ride my BMW K bike. You should define your performance goals before you begin your mods.
How many miles were on your motor before this install? I ask because i know you have to have a crank runout of like 5 thou or less to run gear driven cams. I like the idea of doing away with the tensioners and chains. Figure on an 05, like my 06, youd have to have fairly low milage to still be witihin that tolerance. thanks
You've got the most important thing accomplished already. (rid of tensioners)
Not familiar with your cams (were they perform.)
It's important that you consider the entire "package" to ensure everything performs well together. This is not to say that it must be accomplished all at one time.
Just run hi test for your tune... that's what your gonna be running anyway.
Thanks guys I had 41000 on it tensionsrs half worn. Run out on crank. Was .002 which was great for gear drive. hi test at pump it will be. Who was thinking get away from true duals?are you thinking 2 into one? How much more horse does that give you?
