A good wrench that ranges from 5-80 ft/lbs will do 95% of the whole bike. To covert to inch/lbs to ft/lbs just divide the inch/lbs by 12 to get your ft/lbs value.

You should be covered with one 3/8" drive flexible head 10-125 Foot lbs. or so. And a 1/4" drive flex head 20-200 Inch lbs. Maybe a 1/2" drive 30-350 ft. lbs.
The click type is what most prefer.

Sears/Craftsman torque wrenches were on sale alot through holiday shopping. Unless you're a pro/racing/mech...they're about the most decent for $$$. I bought Kobalt 3/8" ft/lb from Lowe's because of military discount & it's probably equal to Craftsman quality.

Thanks! Never thought of the flex head, but have been looking at the Craftsman. Neither a pro or full time mechanic, just need one for the home shop and use on the bike when needed.

Then Craftsman will work well...usually goes on sale for good price(s) so keep watching flyers, or go online. I bought a cheap in/lb torque @ Harbor Freight & it was junk so "you get what you pay for" when it comes to semi-decent quality.

Harbor Fright is good for certain things, but I never considered the torque wrench from there. I got an email from them yesterday advertising one for a 1/2" drive for $12.99... That's TOOOOOO reasonable...

Beware! Not all torque wrenches are created equal. Ask the guys that stripped-out their oil pan plugs.

Ive got one from them as well as a more expensive version and I dont see any disernable diff. I test my wrench on a bolt thats in my vise placed there for that purpose before I torque a bolt...its just too easy to snap one off. If the bolt Im torquing is diff than what it was on my vise test run, i stop twisting.
