Default Fuel Moto 2-1-2 headpipe help

I am installing a fuel moto 2-1-2 ceramic headpipe. I am to the point where I am installing the headpipe, but the diameter of the headpipe that goes into the exhaust port is just a bit larger than the exhaust gasket.

So basically where the exhaust gasket would slip over the stock headpipe, it will not on the fuel moto pipe. the pipe is rounded a bit so it may snug up fine, but was hoping someone here has experienced the same and can put my mind at ease that this is the way it should be so I can button it up tonight. Otherwise I will call Fuel moto in the morning.

Hope I explained this well.

Thanks.

The Jackpot 2/1/2 head pipe uses a billet collar which offers a far more precise fit than the stock stamped tapered collar, and we have designed the pipe to give the best fit with the stock tapered style gaskets and they will seal perfectly. In most cases the stock gaskets are reusable.

Fuelmoto posted that on an earlier thread. I just installed my 2-1-2 FM header and it looked weird to me as well, but no issues or leaks that I can tell. Hope that helps

Yes we use a billet collar that will seal up to the gasket rather than engage into the port las with the oem head pipe. This will seal perfectly with the factory gaskets no problem.

I know this post is a couple of months old, but I just installed my 2-1-2 pipes in last night and thought it looked a little weird as well. Everything seemed to seat up fine and no leaks detected. I had the same thoughts about the gasket and the fitment, but I know it's a different design than stock, so it will fit different. My question/concern is about how much thread protrusion do you have on the mount bolts? My back cylinder mounted up much better than the front one. They were torqued by the book, but with less protrusion than with the stock pipe. Like I said no leaks thought, is this normal?

Misfit, were you able to get/fit/use a standard torque wrench on the front exhaust bolt? I'm waiting for my FM header and was looking and it looks tight there in the front. Thanks.

I have a 3/8 drive torque wrench that worked fine on my rear but couldn't get at the front with it. If you have a smaller 1/4 drive you should be able to do it no problem.

I used a 1/4 drive socket with with 1/4 universal and extension with adapter (3/8 to 1/4) and a 3/8 ratchet. Definitely close fit, but can be done with minimum issues. I would recommend using some blue tape or some other protection for your downtube and maybe your brake pedal. The extension will definitely be rubbing up against it.

Easy access to the front can be obtained by purchasing some "wobble" extensions. The wobble extensions allow enough slop in the extension joints to allow you to get to the nuts and properly torque them to the inch pound spec.

They can be purchased individually or in sets of 3 (each a different length). I have a set of 3/8 wobbles, and will soon buy a set of 1/4 wobbles. I also purchased the wobble adapter which effectively turns all of your sockets into wobble sockets. It fits on the end of your extension and then the socket snaps snugly to it.

These are great to have in the tool box guys as they really come in handy for allowing access to some really hard to get to places on the bike.

Does the wobble extension affect the torque value?
