called up the dealership and they said they haven't had any bikes with this problem since 09, i guess I'll see what they say when I take it in, I'm about done with them anyways, I've told them on all 3 oil changes the steering head needed tightened because I get a vibration on the frnt end every time I let off the throttle and they just keep putting grease in it and telling me that will fix it and it doesn't, this time they better fix it right or I'm done with them

well the dealership took care of me, the guy was a dick on the phone so I wasn't expecting good results when I showed up but he took care of my problem I even had a screw in the rear tire, apparently I had wheel and tire protection that I don't remember purchasing but they replaced the rear tire They tightened the steering head nut this time too I watched them do it this time, bike rides a lot better so I guess I'll eat crow this time!

Good for you! no way eat crow on a new/warranty ride. I've got an old 1975 MGB with 1980 tires still holding poundage (tubes help).

Interesting thread, have heard for years that new rubber compounds don't show cracks but still break down over time. Replaced a timing belt on a interference motor that looked like new, but how can a guy tell for sure? Rhetorical question. Or maybe not!

Default cracked sidewalls

11' FLTRX with date code on front tire being 11'

Significant cracking only on right side of tire. All the way around on the sidewall. To the point of it looking like a 20 year old tire thats been sitting int the sun. Also, 1/8" deep slice patterns along the middle tread that were almost identical all the way around the tire. I first noticed it around 6000 miles. Kept riding and at 11000 miles asked the dealer if its a recall. Not that they're aware of, only 2010 front tires. They should definately recall that tire. The service guy wasnt even interested in walking out and taking a look at the tire.

I changed my tires out this weekend. If i can help it i wont use the dealer for anything. Customer service and pricing sucks. They wanted $70 per tire change w/wheels off the bike and $236 for both w/wheels on bike. Cycle gear is $30 per tire. Go figure! wonder why dealers are closing down.

My 09 RK had cracks on its sidewalls too. I just bought this bike last month. It was an active New Orleans police bike. Had 5k on it. I just bought and installed avons and new wheel bearings... GTG.

My front tire 09 sporty had cracks in them only after 6k miles. I felt it cracked cuz my bike was kept outside under a over hang all season, but then again I would have expected the rear wheel to do the same but it is still good.
