anybody running Hogg Chopp lowers? http://www.hoggchopps.com/ If you are...pros and cons? It looks like you can use factory glove boxes. They look like they are designed well and compliment the bike. Priced cheap enough.
I am running them. I see no cons. They are easy to put on, much more so than the moco lowers. I don't think that you can use glove boxes w/them. They are shaped a little different. I think that they direct more air at the motor than do the moco ones by the nature of their design.
I've been running them on my RG for a couple of years now. I LOVE 'em. They got rid of almost all of the air coming from underneath the fairing and hitting you in the face, chest, etc. Believe it or not, the wind now comes from behind me and actually flows backwards. (rear to front) It feels kind of strange at first but it sure beats having my glasses trying to flutter off of my face.
I had 'em and took them off and replaced with "fairing factory" replica lowers. I have compared both on my ride and prefer the moco design for comfort and appearance.
Ive been hunting for factory ones and if your lucky enough to find a matching set with hardware that isnt damaged your looking at over $400 and most dont include glove boxes. Ive seen some for less but they need repairs or are missing caps. The fairing factory sets look ok and ive heard decent reviews.
one of the reasons I want to run lowers is to lose the chrome air deflectors on the forks. I hate em. They work but not as good as lowers and they just look bad.
Been using Hogg Chopps for about 2 1/2 years now. Buffeting cut way down. And looking at the design, they seems to direct more air to the cylinders when moving. Back then they offered painted ones (they send them out to be painted), matching was dead on. Same as lionsm13, no cons.
I asked about speaker enclosures and was told they do not offer them. Would love to add speakers in the lowers. The ones in the pics must be a customer fit ones. Any ideas?
I tried using my Hogg Chopps lowers along with front fork air deflectors. They are not compatible together, you'll scratch the lowers when you turn the forks, just a note to others to not make the same mistake I did...
