I don't have my 21 yet (may go 23) but I am putting installing monotubes now since I am powder coating my forks. I was told by progressive that I could use ONE c-clip with a 2 inch lower even though the instructions say not to use any. They said for my weight (220) and 2-up riding that it would work.

Did either of you use a clip or have you read or heard of anyone doing it?

Here is a question for you guys running the monotubes. I have asked at my dealer and others and nobody really seems to know. I have a 2011 RGC, have put 1" longer shocks on the back and am getting ready to do chrome front end and standard height monotubes. I want to go with a 21" front wheel. Will my bike be Ok with the 1" longer rear shocks and the monotubes at standard height? I was told that the monos drop it about 1/2". Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am definitely not an expert on this, but from what I have read the 21 will raise the front some. I am not sure about the standard monotubes, but I think even if they lowered the bike a little, you would still end up riding just like you are now (about stock height) once you combine the shocks and wheel.

If you put a twenty one on it raises the front about an inch and a half. That is why I lowered mine..

If you go with a 23 you will want to adjust the rake of your bike.. The cheap way is with triglide triple trees... If you do that you will not need to lower the suspension because the additional rake will get things l inked back up... But.. Then you need to get your headlight back in line etc.. As well.. More to think about.

Headlights not an issue with Road Glide

I will probably just do a 21. They look good enough with the lowered front end. Now just to decide if I need a c-clip or not. I am leaning towards not right now.

I run progressive front and rear.
Monotube with 2" drop in the front does make it stiffer. there is vibration in the bars. You feel every little bump, not bad, but you know they are there.
I wish I would have gone with only 1":
-it would give some rake to the bike as a whole with my 19" wheel
-I could really lean into turns. I scrape the exhaust now (my only true dislike) but the suspension holds like mad.

Hi king,

The friction to the handlebars may be construed as a rougher ride. Is that what is suggested. I personally am considering them for brake dive but wondered if I trade off vibration in the handlebar.

Thanks

Dave
