They probably use them to ward off evil road gremlins when the ride bell alerts them. Seems a little more practical than my (old school) lucky rabbits foot.

Get back whip, quick disconnect latch hangs on lever. If a car tries to push you out of traffic at a yield or merge or crowds you ,you pull it from the lever and crack the windshield or smack the side of the car... you can buy them at club support tents...
Local LEO know what theyre for around here and dont hassle bikers for having them.

I was at the international bike show in Novi and they had them in a leather shop booth. My friends and I just thought they were for after hours fun with the ladys? Not the metal end...

I have always wondered about those things myself. I just figured they were for the folks that had fringed jackets and chaps, that way you bike could have some fringe too.
