Default Quick change for '96

Does anyone here know if a quick release passenger backrest/luggage rack can be made to fit a'96 Road King? The book says the hardware fits '97 up. i ride mostly solo but need to have a seat for the woman. Not wanting to shell out a couple of hundred to buy the docking gear and backrest if it wont work. Comments from experience much appreciated. Thanks

The frame changed in '97, the '97-up gear wont fit the pre '97 frame.

I had a 1997 and at the time there were plenty of detatchables available for pre '97s, so yes they exist.

The pre '97 Detatch gear is different, HD may have stopped making it, you might be able to pick it up on Ebay as NOS or something?
