Thank GOD someone has the answer to that. I always wondered why HD didn't include these FREE on every bike. Good to know that we got an inside guy @ HD to keep us up to speed on this $hit.

Thats why I made my own, little bigger, little wider....

And YES it does work for the air coming up the front of the tank

My question is does it divert air from the motor, especially the heads??

It doesn't deflect air from anything, at least not on any E-Glide I've ever owned. Bought one for my SG, the nice chrome model. Installed it and couldn't really feel any difference so I took it off - same thing, no difference. I did this several times with the same results - no difference, ever.
I thought they actually did something too until I tested it for myself. Then I moved on to my '95 E-Glide which came with one stock (they all used to), same result - no difference on or off.
Your money would be better spent on the fork mounted units and/or the soft lowers. Those small fairing mount deflector wings actually help too.

none of you guys have had rain roll up the front middle of your tank and get flicked into your eyes? after a few rides in the rain without you'll definetly notice it with it.

Riding in the rain will "enlighten" all that airflow going on...

Most don't have a wind tunnel at our disposal, that's the next best method.

Some riders are allergic to water tho, and that makes testing a little more difficult.

The deflector definitely has an effect on my bike... yep, it's been "tested," and not in a tunnel either.

It's like everything here on hdfo everyone has their own opinions and mine for what it's worth for the money go for it. Doesn't make a huge difference on my flht but does clean the air up some for me. 5'8" stock seat, 8" Aero windshield, full face helmet.
