About to make a 3,000 plus mile trip home this year and I'm really wanting a solo danny gray to put on the bike before this trip happens. Does anybody here have any stories or advice from this same situation? I'm 6'1 with a 34 inch inseam. Any other solo seats besides the gray will work, just wanting to know a good one to make the long trip and then for an everyday rider.
I'm a lot shorter than you,5'6",and the Danny Gray Speed Cradle works great for me.I'm very happy with the quality, fit and finish.I've had several 600+ mile days with no problems.Maybe the Big Seat would be the right one for you.Give them a call,I'm sure they'll recommend the right seat for you.
Good luck contacting Danny Gray. They never replied to my email requests and the person I was supposed to talk to never returned my calls.
I ended up buying a Mustang Vintage Solo seat instead. The seat isn't perfect for me, but Mustang was as helpful as they could be when I contacted them.
You might also consider C&C. Their customer support is top-notch.
I've had a number of solo seats. First, the Mustang Vintage Solo is the best seat I've ever sat on, period. It's an all day seat. Highly recommended for long trips. Does it look good on a Street Glide? Not in my opinion, doesn't have the low profile of a C&C, Danny Gray or a H-D Brawler solo. But on a road trip you need "comfort", not "cool".
Second, I had Danny Gray "Big Seat". Great looking seat, high quality and looks great on a Street Glide. I'm 6'3'' with a 34'' inseam and it seemed to push me forward - don't need that with my height. Both Corbin and Danny Gray (and maybe others) design "hard'' seats. My a$$ and hard seats don't get along. That DG ''Big Seat'' was a 4 hour seat and by 6 hours I was worn out, however, the "Big Seat" is definitely and looker.
Third, I had an H-D Brawler solo seat. Again great looking, but not an all day seat for me. Matter of fact, the Brawler is just a ''cool'' seat, not comfortable, in my opinion.

I have a Danny gray big solo, I love it, good for 400 miles, after that I squirm a little. For the long hauls I swap to the Hd Hammock, no solo seat will match it for comfort. There's a big gap between cool and REAL comfort.
Even though I dont have a touring bike, I am going to chime in here. I have the DG buttcrack seat on my bike. I had it made with the gel straight from DG. I emailed DG about the seat and the price and got an answer back in a few hours. I think their price was $375. Then I called DrVtwin and got the same seat for $349. With my HD sundowner seat, my *** would be hurtin after 3 hours but with the DG, I can ride a good 6 hours. Just my $.02.
Thanks for the input guys. I'm planning on this trip taking at least 6-7 days so I can see all the scenery along the way since I'll never come back to this side of the country once I leave here. So probably going to be a 500-600 mile day each day. I'll look into them for sure!
Ended up jumping on the Mustang day tripper solo. Put one on and it felt amazing and even lowered me a little bit so maybe being so tall on the bike won't be so bad now. Pictures to come later.
