Default What do I need?

Doing my research on possibly buying a 2012 Road Glide or Road Glide Ultra.

If I go the Road Glide and eventually get the tour pak, what will I need besides the tour pak itself. I mean does it need the quick release set up for removing the tour pak when not needed. How about the wiring to hook up the rear speakers and lights (for the tour pak)...are those connections already present in the current wiring?

Any input would be appreciated and am looking forward to getting this bike in the near future.

You would need both the quick detach wire harness and the detach mount bracket... Another thing I have heard that you might want to think about would be the antenna relocation. But I'm sure a few experts will chime in with exact answers.

you could add a tour pak with out speakers.... that greatly simplifies things back there, you'd only need to plumb in the running lights if you wanted to.

(the tour pak with only side marker lights has more internal room- the Ultra style with rear run and brake lights looses interior space to the lighting fixture)

If you wanted to get the bolt on tour pak mount, they are cheap- lots of us ( me) have one in a box in the garage.

the ultra has tour pak, fairing lowers ( which you could add if you want), some badges... and a CB radio- who uses a cb anymore ?
And full height shocks.

If you get the sleeker model ( and save on the initial cost) you can add what you need.
For a road trip, you might want the taller shocks ( more travel) thicker seat and tour pak

If your going to want a tour pack just get the Ultra. The price difference is less than the cost of the tour pack and you get a lot of other extras.

Thanks for the replies so far...a lot to think about.

I also noticed the rims are different on the Road Glide vice the Ultra version...I'm liking the non-ultra rims better...might be easier to clean.
