I would like to install the Radio Shack siren and was looking for the connector end to plug the wires from the siren into that would then plug into the harness connector on the bike now. I know I could just solder pins on the wires and plug the pins into it but would really like to use the connector plug. Has anyone ordered of have an extra one of these for sale?? I was looking at another thread and some people ordered one Dawg recommended and it didn't fit.
I don't think anyone ever actually found the right connector. I just spliced the wires from the siren to the wires going to the connector. Works like a champ. One other thing that was mentioned in another thread was that the HD siren actually has a battery back up. With the Radio Shack siren all someone would need to do is pull the side cover off and pull the main fuse and the siren is inactive. With that said, the HD siren would probably be a better way to go.
Well for that matter, if you pulled the side cover off, you could just unplug either one.
I bought the RS one, got connectors from RS, crimped and soldered them, and caulked the connector with the wires inserted in the connector
+1 if there wanting to steal your bike there going to do it. while there in there getting the fuse they would just rip the siren off the bike also. all and all it's just a deterent.
I am going to check with Harley and see if once the system is armed, if it will go off even if you cut the wires since it has its own battery back up. It seems to me that it should work once armed, even if you cut the wires or unplug the siren or mess with it in any way..but could be wrong about that..I think I want the pager also to monitor what is going on with the bike when I cant see it. I plan on making a trip from Iowa to Memphis this summer and hate the idea of leaving my Ultra Classic outside for some idiot to make off with it so think I am going with the expensive Harley smart siren II and the cheaper pager that goes with it..
I just stripped the wire about 1/8 inch, stuck them in the end of the connector and put the connector back where I found it. It works just fine. If anyone wants to pull the side cover off and make fun of my installation skills, more power to you.
Alright well it took a about a few days of research and I ordered the other 280 series connector said to be the the one needed from another member on here but that was not right as it was about twice the size. Turns out the connector for the siren is a 3 cavity Delphi 12162182 Metri-pack 150.2 female connector. The mate to that connector was never actually tooled up for production by Delphi. So after a lot of calls and emails I have found the one company out there that made this male connector that we have all been looking for! http://www.casperselectronics.com/st...oducts_id=1293
