My local dealer has a 20% off sale on parts and I was wanting a sissy bar/pad/docking plate for a removable backrest for my 2006 Street Glide. I was wanting to know if I get this would it be something I can install myself or would it call for some speical tools? Thanks
Nothing special..... just some patience. THe docking kit is challenging, but certainly can be done in the garage... Take a good look at one that is installed before ya start...
Study the instructions and take a look at one installed and you should have no problem. No special tools needed other than the ones you should have already if your going to be installing your own accessories.
You can do it!
1st, read instructions, do not touch bike.
2nd turn instructions 90 Deg. and re-read instructions, do not touch bike.
3rd wad instructions up and chuck them in the trash (cursing optional at this point), do not touch bike.
4th pull instructions out of trash and re read them, now that all frustration is spent, you can touch your bike.
The correct position of the varied spacers is the biggest challenge - HD's instructions are sometimes a bit "weak" but, if you look at one that's been done, you'll be fine.
