Default How much for new bars??

Hey Forum,

I wanted to put Yaffe Monkey Bars (10") on my 2011 Street Glide, and asked the guys up at the Harley dealership how much for bars, new lines (I guess I need new lines for the longer bars?), and labor.

They quoted me $1400 !!

Has anyone else seen this price for what I'm looking at doing? Should I ask another dealership for a quote? This seems super high to me...the bars are only $375. They quoted $900 for parts and $500 for labor.

Thanks for the help!

labor sounds about right, the dealer that did mine quoted 6 hours at $78hr. parts seem a little high though.

Yeah shops usually want an arm and both legs for bars. That price sounds within the range I've hear 1200-1800 which is too high. You can do it yourself for $600 or so.

Mine were 1100. Worth every penny. I cant touch any wires without screwing something up. House, car, stereo, bike no wiring for me.

When I got a dealer quote they included the kitchen sink in it. Their parts list included all the brake lines, wire extensions and clutch cable. I did it myself, Wild 1 575 and only needed the clutch cable thus saving $$$.

Thanks for the info!

I'm not too concerned about the labor...I've got ABS and I know they have to bleed the lines...blah, blah, blah.

It's the parts that seem really high. I'm guessing they added all new lines in that price?

For the price you originally spoke of it better include wires and cables and possibly a reach around cuz if you have the ability to do it yourself then youll save at least half of that price. I did bars, cables and internal wire extentions (no ABS) for about $550. It took me about 4ish hrs to do (beer included).

I just installed 12" monkey bars on my bike for a little under 6 bills. I needed +6 clutch and brakes, and +3 on the throttle/idle cables. If you go with braided stainless cables, they add up quickly.
